Hi,
I am new to web development. I only have some basic ideas on html, xhtml, javascript, and php. But I love traveling and wanted to develop a website that can work as a single point access for travel lovers. A similar site is http://www.travbuddy.com What technical knowledge I must have in the process? Will Drupal serve me any better solutions in my process of site development?
Thank you

My honest advice
Hi Ebbin,
If you are new and are looking to build a relatively simple site, I don't think Drupal will be the best option for you. I sell packaged Drupal themes and I have quite a few customers like yourself and they all struggle getting up to speed with Drupal. Drupal is better for more experienced folks, in my opinion.
Let me ask , though, what do you really want to do with this project? Are you mainly interested in having a travel site like the one you shared? Then pick WordPress. Are you interested in sharpening your skills as a designer/developer? The maybe look at Concrete5, WordPress or Drupal.
If you're interested in learning Drupal, then of course pick Drupal. But Drupal is putting all its energy these days into building enterprise sites (big sites for big companies). It definitely takes more work to learn Drupal, but once you have done so it's a really great, powerful tool.
So, think about what's really important - the site or the experience - and go from there.

Thank you so much
Hi John,
Thank you so much for your advice. Regarding the website - it will be a complete travel site with intention to have monetary transactions in the future. The site will offer destination guides to its users and allow the registered users to publish travel articles. In a better way to explain the site is by just giving http://travbuddy.com as my site will be more or less a replica of travbuddy. Obviously there is always a curiosity to learn drupal as well. Now that has increased as you mentioned in your message that it is more advanced. Once again thank you so much for your advice.
