Is there any possibility that anyone could work on integrating a Bible module or two, or creating a custom one to integrate with this distribution? I'm just wondering, b/c I have run into issue after issue using other Bible modules.
Currently, the "Drupal Bible" module gives some of the best results, in my opinion, though not everything seems to work - at least in my experience - to the way it's described. And there is one thing missing from it which I have been trying to find with other modules, which would be nice if it all just worked in one module... or else in this one distrubution.
That one thing that the "Drupal Bible" module doesn't seem to do is give a way to include a "Bible Field" where you can attach Bible passages as fields to any content type you wish. For now, I'm using "Bible Field" for that, and it mostly works fine, but I'd prefer a few differences. Those are:
1. Correct spelling of book names, since it's static to the module, not user-editable - this is likely an easy fix if they are currently maintaining it.
2. Instead of linking to an external source, link any verse/passage to the Bible text onsite which is currently loaded/installed by the Drupal Bible module.
3. (this is something I've done in an Access Database I built for use at my church, but have no clue as to how to do in Drupal) - When selecting a passage... have each chapter/verse drop-down be filtered to only allow for numbers that are possible for that book/chapter/verse combination. - This of course would be farther down the list as far as priorities, I think, but would be nice.
Forgive me if this has already been discussed. I didn't see any such mentions listed at a glance.

drupalninja99 commentedHi I think if there is a module that works well we could look at integrating it so that it's pre-configured. I don't think I want to get involved with that particular project at this time. I would suggest adding a feature request to the Drupal Bible module.
If we did add "bible fields" to OpenChurch? what content types would you think should have it?

kjv1611 commentedFor Bible Fields, I think these content types should include it:
Of course, if it were included, it could just be added as optional fields to whichever content types it is added, and then the site administrator could add the field type to others as desired.
I know it can be manually installed as well.
Yeah, the piece of making the Bible Fields module point to text supplied by the Drupal Bible module would be more on the module end, else you'd also have to develop an additional sub-module to go with this package, and that could end up making things more messy, I think.
I'm actually going to look at yet another Bible module option that I keep forgetting look at. It's not listed directly on Drupal, but externally, and it sounds very promising. Once I remember what it is, I'll try to list it here, as who knows - it may be it's a more worthwhile option than the others I've mentioned so far.

drupalninja99 commentedThat's interesting, have you tried just installing the module and adding in those fields yourself?

kjv1611 commentedI've honestly not done much with it since it crashed the first 3 times. I did use various items, such as the Bible module, and the Bible Field module, both worked. Well, the Bible module, I have had some issues with, but I may have forgotten something from the first time when I used it - on a Drupal 6 site a couple of years prior.
Also, I've used the AudioField module successfully... before crashing... using this OpenChurch setup..
I've not yet tried the other Bible module. I'll hopefully find time in the next week or two, but we'll see. I'll mention what that one was as soon as I can take the time to look at it again.

drupalninja99 commentedI am a bit nervous ab integrating the Bible. I think its fine for ppl to add the Bible module to OpenChurch but as far as integrating it I don't know if I want to invest the time bc I don't know how well supported the Bible module is. Something I would be more interested in is a 3rd party service (bible.com or something for example) where I could add a text format filter to auto-link bible verses or something.
