When using a user reference field as an editable field, if the visiting user is not logged in the reference appears as anonymous. I've tried all combinations of permissions, but it seems like a bug. I expect under

Field visibility and permissions that the option Public (author and administrators can edit, everyone can view), would allow all users to see the user reference, but instead it just says anonymous. When logged in everything seems to work correctly.
