I needed this feature and I think it's a nice addition to the current action with a configuration option, I added it as a parameter and it worked fine but current added rules appears with the new missing parameter error, and I don't quite know how to add it in an update to old rules works as good as, any help on that and I can contribute a patch.

For now I moved it to a separate module.

@hanoii Can you add a link to that module, so it will be useful if someone else wants this feature?

I don't understand how this can be useful, as all logged-in users have the "authenticated" role (in addition to any other roles they may have) while anonymous users can't have an assigned role.

It's a very old issue and now that I think of it you are right, not sure what was that I had in mind. There's probably some mistake in the writing but I can't even infer where I might have needed this :)
