I think it would be useful if the vertical tab summaries showed a count of how many exportables were selected. Module filter does a similar thing.

The 6 year old patch to bulk_export.js applied cleanly to the latest ctools 7.x-1.x-dev, but still needs to be officially reviewed and tested by the community.
