RSS is a pretty common feature on forums these days, and really helps people track topics. The forums themselves support RSS, but the individual topics do not.
I think tracking individual topics would be a lot more useful to the casual user.

There is a commentrss module which was maintained by myself for some time, but is not maintained by me for some time. It could be considered for this feature. I don't know of any other module providing comment feeds for Drupal.

Yes please. This is a very useful feature for us also. We set up a drupal site just for a forum and comments. The ability to set up an RSS feed for topics (and comments separately) would be most helpful (ala SlashDot).
