Recently after checking out drupal.org and some of the modules in which I will recently be using. I thought that perhaps a better admin user interface could be set in motion.

I do know that such things may be somewhat too hard for me to do with my current lack of knowledge. But just how hard would it be to create such content?

Heres the idea.

I looked at myspace.com and reviewed their layout. It's mostly "set" and has a core layout for the admin, or the user's page set up. you can imput the fields and alter content from a close to "real time outlook".

If only their was a way to allow the admin to go from front to back, as oppsed to back to front in creating content for the consumer, user end. By bringing it all forward. While having uploads of photos on myspace, you can see the blocks and somewhare "add more", perhaps even choose "how many" more (blocks, perhaps product, nodes, ect).

So...perhaps, i guess...you might actually be able to see it "almost finished" as opposed to viewing everything from the "backend". fill in the blanks as such. And "boom" your almost done, and somewhare in or around the block or field, you can click on "advanced options", you could, perhaps, control the css, the color, font, ect...add in html, and advanced editing options.

Then, for someone like me, it would keep me from going "behind the scenes" untill I know more about the backend admin levels of the cms.

let's build on this idea. "Front to back, Not back to Front" Admin user end upkeeping!

My feedback:

I do not think that this is a good idea. This is Drupal: sure, it can be a little intimidating to the admin at first, but the power of it is incredible once you get used to it.

Also, redoing the administration section would mean (I think) a modification in the Drupal core, which would put it at 7.x at best: hardly instant success.

The administration section went through a lot of changes from Drupal 5 to Drupal 6; perhaps this even does most of what you want it to do (Example: Drag-and-drop menu items, etc).

It's also not a very definite or interesting task: "change Drupal administration from back-to-front to front-to-back" isn't really giving any information on what you actually want DONE. It's also not very interesting: going through hundreds of administration pages and editing their code in this vague sense seems like very dreary work.

So, I am against this idea.

THANK GOD FOR UM, WHATS IT CALLED? DRUPAL THEME DEVELOPER MODULE! Thats exactly what ive been trying to figure out. i can learn the code, i just need to know the tree...and this brings out the concept for me, allows me to better interact with the development of the "drupal" cms, and allows me to edit "just what i need" to edit. without loosing functionality of the core items of interest, which, i have no idea why i would change..but if i wanted to...i guess i could, huh?

wooohooo.

boy, i love this stuff.
thanks for helping.

this task idea: FIXED!
