I posted a couple of forum topics a while ago and just logged in to see that someone had replied. I was pretty surprised that I didn't get emailed about the reply and even more surprised when I asked in #drupal and apparently it's not possible to subscribe to a forum topic. I think this is assumed behavior these days and should definitely be supported.

Example: When someone replies to http://drupal.org/node/183006 everyone who has touched the thread should get emailed (or be able to opt in at least).

Drupal.org is not equipt to do this at this time. Users can check their tracker until such time as a notifications feature or subscription feature is implemented on drupal.org
