Drupal Wallpapers

nicholasThompson - December 17, 2007 - 15:13

After Matt Farnia posted about the utter lack of Drupal Wallpapers, my friend and I decided to have a Photoshop Tennis contest.

Basically, a Photoshop Tennis contest involves, after maybe setting some ground rules like a consistent theme or having to use a certain image/logo in each design, person A making a design and passing it (or 'serving' it) to person B. Person B then has to make an altered version of that image, keeping in line with the rules you agree. Person B then plays the image back to Person A. This gets repeated for a predetermined number of rounds (or the players get bored) and a winner is decided. The winner can be decided by the players or by an independent judge who scores based on the number of 'best shots' - you sometimes don't even NEED a winner as it is, after all, just a bit of fun!

Anyway - my friend served first and I have to make a return shot on these (I put together the preview)... Unfortunately, it seems I cannot embed images in forum posts! So here is a good old fashioned text link...

Drupal Wallpapers - serve 1

I hope to finish my return serve (or actually get round to starting it) VERY soon! I'm REALLY impressed by that start. Its a simple wallpaper, but the colours really bring Druplicon out!

Return Serve!

nicholasThompson - December 17, 2007 - 17:00

And here is my return serve!

I'm quite pleased with these - simple and subtle, but more interesting (and branded) than a plain gradient. My favourites are the black and the light blue... I've put the others in because, for some reason beyond my understanding, some people like being blinded by fully saturated backgrounds!

I am back with new wallpapers..

Nice serve Nick, I like the choice of colors and what you did with the blownup logo. So, to continue the large logo theme.. here is the preview of next batch of drupal wallpapers..

Look forward to hearing what people think..

Round 2!

nicholasThompson - December 19, 2007 - 00:08

As Dakku said, Round 2 has started. I've uploaded Dakku's wallpapers and I hope to do mine tomorrow...

I also learned that my original post incorrectly stated my 'turn'. My only entry so far is NOT round 2... It's still Round 1 - but my reply... So in order so far (plus I've update the titles on DeviantArt so the URLs are different, although the old ones still work which is cool!)...

dakku - December 21, 2007 - 01:07

nice closure to round 2 nick. I like the bobble sheet effect you gave to the background.
I think round 3 should bring something a little more festive to get us all in the xmas mood. Round 3 serve coming up tomorrow, stay tuned..

Return Volley!

nicholasThompson - January 2, 2008 - 16:58

And my return volley is here.

The background is a fractal I generated using Apophysis. There are 5 variations on fractal theme generated using a simple hue shift.
