Filtering problem with authors that have more than one word as their lastname

I have a problem with links generated for authors that have several words in their lastname, e.g. Van Vliet (example found on liisource.org). The links that are generated look like this: http://liiscience.org/biblio/author/Van++Vliet. There should only be one plus in the url.
