Theme Artists are very proud to announce the release of new Drupal based web site. ThemeArtists.com is place where you will come every time when you are looking for the new design for your Drupal based web site. We will put a lot of effort to make you happy with our Drupal themes, either if you are using our contributed, GPL licensed, or professional Drupal themes.
Together with the site release, the new GPL licensed Drupal theme ‘Artists C01’ is released. The new theme is presented and also used as design platform for the site itself.

...
The site looks nice. But I think you should design your own logo for it rather than appropriate Drupal's logo... It's just more professional, honest and ethical.
Thank you for your feedback.
Thank you for your feedback. According to our plans the Theme Artists will have an original logo design instead of Druplicon. You are probably right that it is more professional, but it is a little bit too strong to consider the Druplicon use as dishonest and unethical. After all, the half of Drupal world is using Druplicon logo, and it is in line with license. Anyhow, it is a temporary solution for the themeartist.com.

You're Welcome
But providing products or services and using Drupal's logo -- or any other open source project's logo -- in a manner that suggests said products or services are endorsed by Drupal.org or that project, and they are not, and Drupal.org or that project has not given expressed permission for the appropiation of their logo or its use, is DISHONEST and UNETHICAL no matter how many people may be doing it. Therefore, the language is as strong as it needs to be.
Nothing immoral
I am not affiliated with Theme Artists nor a lawyer...
I cannot see where you are coming from vcarey. By visiting Theme Artists' website, I do not see the false marketing you mentioned that the products and services are endorsed by drupal.org. The druplicon is released under GNU/GPL.... and if they give Drupal-related services, I don't see why they can't use a derived version of the druplicon....as long as the said derived version is still under the GNU/GPL license. Personally, I do not see this as misleading. Also, the statements written on the website are just "matter of fact" statements....that they design themes for Drupal.
If developers cannot use the word "Drupal" or the druplicon because they give Drupal-related services, then there will be thousands who will be out of work! These companies and/or freelancers are not stating that they were the ones who made Drupal nor own it. They provide products and services for the Drupal platform.
Imho, they are not breaking any license, nor doing something immoral.
Are you going to scold webhosting providers that they cannot use php, mysql and apache logos, as well?
...and these are just my opinion as an observer.

First, I never said anything about using the word Drupal. How could a site or company communitcate they provide Drupal services if they can't say/write the word Drupal?
Interesting you ask this question. Webhosts don't appropriate these logos and use them as their own. They display them separately from their own logo, and use them solely to visually show they offer these open source services. This is not appropriation, it's a visual display of offered services. There is a difference.
In my opinion, any reputable, professional business (and there are many who provide Drupal services) would not appropriate another logo -- even an open source one -- and use it as their own... Well, maybe this says something about all those Drupal-related service sites that do.
You and Theme Artists are certainly entitled to your opinion. And I, mine.
Thank you vCarey for sharing
Thank you vCarey for sharing you opinion with us. It seems that you are lonesome in Drupal community with your judgment about using Druplicon.
