Is anyone else having email and MySQL uptime issues with Bluehost?

I love the fact that I get command prompt access with Bluehost and that they have good support but latlly I have been having some uptime issues and I was wondering if anyone else was seeing this to.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,

If you haven't already, the first thing to do is contact Bluehost.

It's next to impossible for companies to monitor *every* aspect of their servers and performance every minute of their operation. It could just be something they aren't aware of yet - a problem of a very transient nature. I'm not saying it is not something they should be doing better, but in the end all the companies are run by humans. And we all make mistakes.

I'm sure that if they are a good company they would appreciate a chance to be notified of a problem and get a heads up so they can look into it.

I love bluehost they have awesome support. one time last week that happened to me. i attributed it to something else but i gave them a call and like 10 seconds later it was fixed...

I've been using blue host for about 2-3 years now. they've treated me pretty good, a few times upgraded my account for free (extra storage and bandwidth). The live chat is wonderful if you're having problems and the tech support is extremely knowledgeable.

Regarding the MySQL uptime, Just recently they helped me isolate a module that was having a memory leak and causing CPU suspension of my account. also optimizing MySQL helped a bit, but it was mostly the module that was causing issues.

I haven't had any issues with their services that wasn't caused by me :)

Which module was it?

Thanks,

it was the Brilliant Gallery module. when viewing a gallery with more than 20 images, twice(refreshing), it crashes. meaning i wont be able to have more than 1 person viewing that gallery at once!

Does Bluehost support apache2 rewrite mod? Looks like they have a good amount of standard features but was wondering if clean URL's will be possible with them.

If am not sure what you mean by rewrite mod but I am able to have custom .htaccess files where I have set up clean URLs.

Hope that helps,
Steve

The apache module is actually called mod_rewrite and without it clean urls wouldn't work.

clean url's have worked for me. and as far as i can recall (though i haven't done it directly) rewrite does work.

Bluehost has been having some issues with their servers going down. My websites have gone down repeatedly in the past few weeks, usually for less than an hour.

Bluehost does have excellent support, and is a good cheap host for Drupal installations.

also I am considering leaving them because they do not offer ffmpeg and I want my users to be able to upload videos...but I do like them and really don't want to go throught trouble of moving...whatever that entitles.

Well, Bluehost changed my PHP version all of the sudden with no previous communication, that must be nice when you run Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 Websites, isn't it?
