I was using Brilliant gallery for all but 3 days, then i found it was the cause for the heavy CPU loads that were suspending my account. BG has everything i needed in a gallery, and now i cant use it (till this issue is worked out, which ive already looked into)
Any alternatives that may have the same functionality as BG?
I've tried Acidfree Albums, but having to create a node for each image isn't intuitive for my needs and bulky. also i dont really want to have to re-upload the images that are already on the site (dozens of image per gallery).
gallery (gallery2) seams to have the similar functionality as Acidfree and overly complex (though i haven't had time to get thorough with it)
I'm looking for something that can:
-put a tag in a node that inserts the gallery,
-point to a folder on a server and displays images contained (via tag or settings),
-only need to upload to server folder then automatically appears in said gallery,
control thumbnail size and compatibility with lightbox (or similar) would be nice.
I've been setting up my portfolio for the past week and thought I was done. Then this issue popped up, now my site has no images for the time being. I intended to have multiple galleries for my fine art, 3d, sketch book... etc. going to use acid for now too keep content alive (sent out resumes, and links to my site that now has no content. EEK!)

I am currently configuring a BG for a site I am making. For starters, this worries me. So far it seems to be very quick and efficient, but if it chokes up that much and causes for insane bandwidth usage or something - eek indeed. I was thinking of testing Acidfree, but this is for a client. No way he'd be ok with making new nodes for every photo.
While I am here, mind if I ask something? How were you able to achieve having multiple galleries using BG? I only see a way to make one. And any tags I put in new pages I make just display that one gallery.
I made a new content type
I made a new content type that had a space to add the BG tag. With each new node I had an associated folder that I would fill into the text box. I have found that BG is very finicky and you have to learn what it likes and doesn't like. let me know if you need more help with multiple galleries.
When I was using it BG I exceeded my CPU time allotment multiple times which was very frustrating. BG looks great and is very easy to use because of the folder system and not have a picture per node but after testing it I found it was not worth it.
My client has chosen IMAGE,
My client has chosen IMAGE, even though he'll have to do it on a per-node basis. He likes the hierarchal setup and how thumbnails are made at the upload phase.
Database caching bug fixed
Hi, the CPU load probably was caused by a bug in the database caching system. It was identified in http://drupal.org/node/229872 and solved a while ago - you can get the latest version from today's dev or CVS, or from any later edition (soon going to publish version 3.0).
