Hi guys,

Sorry if this has been asked before.

For someone new to Drupal who plans to create two new sites, such as myself, would you recommend using and learning on 6.x or should I stick with 5.x until 6.x is released? I understand that 6.x is at RC1 already, so I would assume the final version would be released in the coming weeks/months.

I'm guessing it would probably be better to start off and learn with 5.x right now, as it seems a lot of modules I'm interested in (such as pathauto) aren't available for 6.x at the moment, but I thought I'd get the community's opinion as well.

Thanks for any help,

Rob

start with 5

when all modules you've chosen for your site are updated to D6, then move to D6

If you are just getting started and want to test and click together contributed modules 5.x is the place to start.

But, go ahead and install 6.0 as well.

With Drupal 6.0 reaching RC (release candidate) status there aren't going to be any fundamental changes to Drupal 6.0 core. While a great many contributed modules will not be 6.0 compatible you do have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the administration interface and other facets of Drupal 6.0. When contributed modules are ready, you can always upgrade your 5.x sites.
