I did a search, read through the first 15 responses to the search, didn't see this posted. Also searched the bug reports, couldn't find any bugs with login and firefox.
For internet explorer, if I visit the front page of the website and I've already logged in, it does not show the login block.
For firefox (1.0.2) even if I'm logged in, if I go to the front page, the login block is shown.
I can click on any link and the login block will go away and I will instead have the admin menu (without using the displayed login block I can do this).
Anyone else having this difficulty?

Cache showing you old data?
Maybe the page is cached and you are seeing unflushed cache data?
Yeah i hate firefox & site
Yeah i hate firefox & site caching, totally messed up error checking on my new site.
Make sure drupal has caching turned off
then if u can without problems clear ur firefox cache/cookies
try again.
I cleared the cache,
I cleared the cache, shift-click reloaded the site.
Drupal is generating that login block for the front page always.
What's really confusing is I can type in any log in, and it will take me to drupal/node. The login block disappears and the "front page" is displayed, but no login block.
Firefox User Login
Have duplicated same issue here, with Firefox 1.2 Drupal 4.6 downloaded 4/11/05.
Platform?
I've not seen this on FF Mac OSX. Is this on Win or Lin?

I'm mostly unsure of the severity of the bug, and if so whether or not I've communicated it correctly or not.
My users that are using firefox, are always being told to login if they go to the front page, but no other page. This isn't a bug that's overwriting my database, but I keep getting complaints about it. Rather surprised that there haven't been a flood of bug reports about this.
