How to give automatic unique Keywords and Description meta tags to every node ?

poseidon123 - December 27, 2007 - 06:45

OK, I know there is some module/way to give automatically keywords and meta tags to every node, but what is it ?

I was just checking my website and almost all the pages have got same "description" which are indexed in google which is NOT good for me as far as SEO is concerned. :)

Thanks

Ok I got it, it is nodewords http://drupal.org/project/nodewords - by the way, are there any such more modules which are primarily intended for SEO enhancements ? I would love to know about any such discussion which might have taken place in DO.

Cheers

And I who thought META-tags

And I who thought META-tags was history.

Google and other search engines ignores them.

Google and other search

Google and other search engines ignores them.

Interesting stuff, I'm just looking at this myself. From Wikipedia:

No consensus exist whether or not the keywords attribute has any impact on ranking at any of the major search engine today. It is speculated that it does, if the keywords used in the meta can also be found in the page copy itself. 37 leaders in search engine optimization concluded in April 2007 that the relevance of having your keywords in the meta-attribute keywords is little to none[3].

But it does go on to say

Unlike the keyword attribute, the description attribute is supported by most major search engines, like Yahoo and Live Search, while Google will fall back on this tag when information about the page itself is requested (e.g. using the related: query).

So maybe the Meta tags module is still worth using?

(I'm a noobie to all things web, so pls correct where possible.)

Im not sure, about all META

phoohb - December 27, 2007 - 10:54

Im not sure, about all META attributes.
("keywords", and probably also "description". Is history)

The most important, when constructing a webpage, is a good "title".
(that doesnt blink, or moves.. was that a wiki -phenomena

I personally doesnt see an urgent need to maximize hits/visits, to my homepage.
(it better to get the right visitors and right reponds..

MetaTags are not history

bara.munchies - May 4, 2008 - 21:21

meta keywords are getting ignores for rankings in search engines. too many similar meta are considered spammy and might lead to bad rankings.

what is very important is the meta description. that the text that makes the potential visitor click your ad or the other ones. depending on the site i've seen differences like just 25% of visitors with bad description compared to 100% with perfect description. if you do not define desc. meta. google pull it out of the text.

Auto Keyword Tags From Search Index

rakisisesindekibalik - January 7, 2008 - 07:53

Here I've added auto keyword tags generated from search index. But remember it works only for regular nodes not cck since they are not indexed by search module. Still better solution for me. I still have limited drupal knowledge I am planning to develop token based meta tag generator when I get familiar with drupal API.
