Drupal Association Member BadgesYou can become a member of the Drupal Association by purchasing your membership like many individuals and organizations already have. You can also apply to become a Permanent Member, if you would prefer to volunteer.

With your financial support the Association helps the Drupal community by supplying hardware for the Drupal.org infrastructure and financially supporting the Drupal conferences, such as Drupalcon Barcelona. If you become a member for one year, you are encouraged to pick a badge from the badges page that reflects your status. Please make a local copy and display your membership status on your site. These badges were designed by Roy Scholten who handed the copyright of them to the Drupal Association. So grab your wallet and become a member and show it on your site!

Please be sure to read the statutes / internal regulations about the different forms of membership and their rights. Also note that paying for a membership is not the same as donating to the Association.

I tried signing up on the site, but received no confirmation email. The password reminder trick didn't work as well.

Please help.

If you're going to purchase a membership, make sure you've already created an account on association.drupal.org and that you're signed into it before purchasing. Otherwise, you may not be able to update or even edit your membership details/profile (to add your website, for example).

Hi John, that's good advice. Alternately we can manually synchronize the Drupal accounts and CiviCRM Memberships. We are working through a list of 72 accounts right now. This should be fixed in CiviCRM 2.0.

If there are any problems updating your membership profile due to a duplicate record or "account already exists error" contact me via the association contact form and I'll correct it.

John, the issues Kieran mentioned was the source of my problems (thanks to Kieran and Wim for fixing my account). I'm not sure why I ended up with duplicate accounts, but I do recall doing some "testing" and "jumping the gun" while the site was still in beta. Either way, I'm proud to show my badge on my Drupal pages. :-)

How would anyone on the face of the planet know this from the form itself?

There's nothing that warns you -- and there's nothing that allows you to change your listing.

Let's go over how this should work:

1. Either you're required by the system to create an account BEFORE you can continue to PayPal

Or,

2. Once you've been to PayPal, you get a password send to your email address with instructions on how to change the information.

Heyup, there's a minor spelling mistake in the article:

These badges where designed by Roy Scholten

Should be 'were designed by Roy Scholten'. Otherwise: cool. Thanks for the information. :)

Perhaps i overlooked it, could you show other currencies regarding the cost of becoming a member, such as US/Canadian? It currently show euros.

Just an observation.

The association is Belgian non-profit. We choose to go with the local currency. We also found that over the last year the US dollar has been changing against the Euro too much to post.

22 Euros = 31.9682 U.S. dollars
73 Euros = 106.0763 U.S. dollars

I'm not sure if Google is the best or most accurate source. De Tijd has a calculator for this (on the right).

Hi hectr,
United States Dollar lost value against all currency units at 2007 and recent years.
Especially against big currency units.
This is why people are not showing USD value any more at overseas.
5 years ago 1000 Euro could only buy 899 USD
now 1000 Euro buys 1470 USD. Cool, US economy has shrunk nearly half, lol!
United States is cheaper now, thanks to GWB!

I am glad to see this finally take place. I emailed Boris back in October to recommend this. He said they were on their way - glad to see them here. I am sporting my badge at both Drupal related sites (signature). Whoever designed these: classy and simple, just enough to draw attention. Thanks!

Boy, I feel like I am writing for /. or so. Nobody reads the article :-)

"Whoever designed these: classy and simple, just enough to draw attention."

"These badges were designed by Roy Scholten who handed the copyright of them to the Drupal Association."

Only one person to thank and that is Roy

...

Thanks Roy! :-)

I already signed up as an organization member.

I have the following question:

Membership as per the Association web site say "Organization" and "Individual" (http://association.drupal.org/membership). The price is Organizational is 73 Euro.

But, in the regulations (1.2.2) it says 50 Euros and calls it "Corporate" and further divides it into premium, gold, ...etc.

Is it because the regulations need to be updated or what?

Another question: does renewal happen automatically, or do we get an email and are asked to renew?

Thanks

It seems that the Drupal Association is a little unorganized. Neither they do respond to e-mails nor they use a proper e-mail address (e.g. association @ drupal.org).

bertboerland’s picture

Hi

please mail again, it might be cought by our spam filters. or better, use our contact form
http://association.drupal.org/contact

we are organized and we do respond to mail :-)
