taxanomy_theme allows you to switch to different themes based on taxanomy term. That means css aggregator can not be turned on. Since this theme needs css aggregator always on, there is a conflict.

This is not conflict with taxanomy_theme in particular but any module that allows theme switching.

I'm thinking of coding a "light" version of the theme that would not require the CSS aggregator...
