node edit (current page)

So I created a new content-type... lets say it is called "dogs." Inside the node there are fields about the dog let say, Name, Weight, Speed, Color, Hair Type typically unchanging. Now in the same node there are a few changing fields such as last time dog was trimmed, when it was let out last and then maybe a easy selection for if the dog is outside or in.

So, for the first fields the "unchanging" it is fine no problem there. It is the send set of fields the editable fields that I have an issue with. I want to be able allow the users to make changes to those regions without having to go to the edit screen.

I have given the user the ability to go to the edit screen because things like weight and speed might change but not as often as the other items. So, I am looking for a solution that allows quick editing for a few fields in the node.
