Is it possible to get a yearly calendar view from the event module?

If not, how hard would it be to patch the module to do so?

No, there isn't a year view yet. I guess it would not be too hard to do. I'd accept a patch for event 5.2.

I would also love to see a year view for events, but unfortunately i'm clueless when it comes to coding.

Event for Drupal 8 is unrelated to older versions. If an issue similar to this one exists, please open a new issue with the 8.x branch.
