Although various tags are allowed in TinyMCE's configuration, any new tags that are entered are just ignored.
For example, I need BLOCKQUOTE. I add it to the P, PRE, H1, H2, ...etc. It gets saved, but never shows up on a textarea.
TinyMCE is set to Advanced.

matt westgate commentedThis seems to be a limitation of the tinymce advanced theme. You can remove elements but not add them to that form. Luckily in this case there is already a blockquote button with the advanced theme. It's the 'indent' one.
Feel free to file a bug report over at tinymce.
