When I try to set a custom colour, e.g. for the node background, the theme does not adjust the colour accordingly. However, when I manually change the file belonging to the style (node-bg.css), it works fine.

Please help.

This seems to be an effect of not having the performance settings set tot the right value. After changing that the rendering changed to the values put in. However the rendering changes and I have to figure out how to compensate for that.
