highlight external search engine queries too (e.g. Google)

I need a module that can highlight search terms from external search engines, as well. This seemed to be the closest match, so I extended it using a little snippet of code from an A List Apart ezine article:

The code supports all kinds of search engines, but not sure exactly which or how many other than Google:
