Question on Moving Hosts:
If moving from one host to another and both use Cpanel, can I just do a direct download of the .gz for the mysql db's and the home directory from one site's backup and then upload it onto the other site's backup? Would there be any other configuration (other than editing the domain name pointers) that I'd need to do?

Also, I am looking for a host that
1.)Does not host adult sites (or at least one that doesn't co-mingle adult and non-adult sites on the same shared server).
2.)Ideally hosts MYSQL on the same server as the hosting server (not a requirement)
3.)Doesn't have too harsh rules on multiple concurrent connections. I only generate 500-1000mb of traffic per month. But there might be a few times a day where 10-15 people are hitting the homepage within a few minutes. This has caused issues in the past with hosts locking me out for "too many connections" such as the error seen here:
4.)Has been around for a while and is not a brand new operation
5.)Ideally would allow a 6-month contract

I am running 4.7

you will also have to edit your settings.php file to point to the new DB.
This is done by editing the $db_url string

To reduce the size of the DB export:
clear your sessions and cache tables.

I would not terminate or let your old account expire, until the new site is up and running properly.

Thanks. I only have 2 Drupal mysqls. They are each 3-5mb. The whole site is about 250 mb. It does have over 400 "event" posts though. Any tips for a host based on my criteria?

I've read good things about anhosting.com and will probably be moving my sites to them in the very near futre.

The only host I can think of which will not host any adult content is Bluehost. They are established, very popular, and will transfer your sites for you.
