When I remove the "search fast index" under exposed filters my view shows 0 results.

Goal:
I want to create a custom search form for the views fast search and do not want to use the exposed filters. Is there a better way to take this form off the page and replace it with a custom form?

This version of Views Fast Search is not supported anymore. The issue is closed for this reason.
Please upgrade to a supported version and feel free to reopen the issue on the new version if applicable.
