don't display categories underneath posts

Description
How do I get rid of the category links underneath posts? It displays the author name and the comment link, which is fine, but above them, each taxonomy category that is assigned to the post is displayed as well. I tried changing node_tpl.php but the links are still there.
Any ideas?
