in pathauto.module's hook_nodeapi/user/taxonomy pathauto takes action and builds tokens. Later we check to see if we even have a pattern applicable for the object type. To improve performance, it should be the reverse...

This only affects new object creation and not bulk updates, but performance improvements are always nice.
