First off, from the bottom of my wretched soul I thank you for this module, I've been looking for something like this for a long time.
Is there a way to make it text buttons instead of image icons

It looks like a non-trivial rewrite.
Start by changing lines 150,153 in the quicktags.js and then mod the relevant lines under quicktags.module with suitable text descriptions.

is it possible to split the tags into 2 seperate lines?
or put quicktags button into one line and quicktags plus on another line below it?
