I'm about to install to test and couldn't find any documentation. Could you post something, even if it's basic, to let folks interested know basic install steps?
This is going to make my life much easier. Thanks!

point noted, I'll add and INSTALL.txt file, but it's pretty simple:
1. enable the module
2. give permissions to your admin role
3. navigate to admin/settings/multisite_maintenance (there's further instructions there).

I suggest also noting that the module need be installed and enabled on just one multisite instance, not all. Users should consider designating one instance as something of a 'master' instance for this module.

Right after I submitted my prior comment I thought that I may have a narrow view how the module might be used. I do think that most users might designate one site in a multisite environment as the primary instance, but perhaps not all.
