Not sure if this is an issue, a Firefox bug, or that-is-just-the-way-it-is.
On the drupul.org site, go to a multi-page site, scroll down, and then click on a new page, and the hit the back button - does it position you back exactly where you were on that previous page, or does it forget that location, and instead shows the top of the page?
For example, go to:
Scroll to the end of page, and you'll see a link there to http://drupal.org/node/20831
Click on that link.
Now click the back button on your browser.
What should happen is that the browser should display the same position as existed when you clicked on the link - it should not go back up to the top of the page.
Is this because Firefox (1.0.2, 1.0.3) has a bug?
Or because drupal is not compatible with Firefox?
This works fine on Internet Explorer.
All these tests were on Windows XP.
Comments
Yes!
I HATE this! It's because the pages are refreshed when you go back, I think. Highly annoying. Should be a bug in Drupal, in my opinion. Using Firefox 1.0.4 on Linux.
Update: see http://drupal.org/node/22590 "Scroll position not remembered on Firefox/Win" issue
Me too
It did not happen to me with Drupal 4.5.x, only 4.6 sites, including Drupal.org.

Interestingly...
...your own site doesn't have this problem.
Ironic
If you look at this http://drupal.org/node/23846 you'll see how my site seems to have all sorts of, um, unique qualities.

I am having the same issue on my site, IdolBlog.. any suggestions? (Using Drupal 4.6)
I dont think this is a
I dont think this is a Drupal issue, but rather a Firefox issue. It happens to me all the time no matter what site I am viewing. On the odd occassion firefox will position me back where I started, but most often it doesn't.
The best solution for me is to open all links in a tab.. then just close it when you are done.
Same for me
I have had the same experience as citrikacid. It happens on multiple (most) sites, but not all. Does not appear to me to be Drupal related.
