Community & Support

Drupalcon Boston sponsorships and registration are open

Drupalcon Boston 2008 registration is now open. Please register for the conference site, and then pay your $195 conference fee. You can also purchase a conference sponsorship for your organization, and learn about the benefits that best meet your organizations needs.

Drupalcon Boston 2008 takes place from March 3, 2008 to March 6, 2008 in Boston Convention and Expo Center. There will also be a Drupal Code Sprint on March 7.

Drupalcon is the twice-yearly gathering of Drupalers to learn about, discuss & advance Drupal, and to network with other Drupal community members. With sessions targeted at everyone from novice to expert attendees, Drupalcon is one of the best ways to advance your understanding and use of Drupal.

The conference program will have 4 tracks, a job fair, a networking event, and a social event. It will have a dedicated room for each track and Birds of a Feather room, with keynotes from industry leaders like Dries Buytaert and others.

AIIM Expo will be held at the same time and location, and Drupalcon attendees can visit the AIIM Expo Hall. For full access to AIIM Expo, separate registration is required.

Any chance of getting a forum on the DrupalCon site so we can look for people to share rides with, get ideas for hotels, etc? Currently there is not even a way to post comments.

Are there any hotels that we already know some people are staying at, or places that may be used for pre- and post-conference activities? I'd rather be where other people are and not off somewhere by myself :-)

Kieran,

I have selected your name because of the status you hold in Drupal. We would like to have Drupal as our preferred recommendation to the people who come to our site.

This is basically what we are developing http://www.humanrightstv.com/index.php and I personally, as an historian, feel very strongly that the principles of Open Source and the principles of the school of Public History ( from where I am coming from and was trained in http://www.ruskin.ac.uk/topics/page.php?topic_id=6 ) are something that sit well with each other:

I see it a symbiosis.
"Others define it more narrowly, as only those relationships from which both organisms benefit, in which case it would be synonymous with mutualism.[4][5][6]" from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbiosis.

What I would really like is to have a discussion about how we, who are creating an historical archive based on public history ideals, can help promote Drupal as a way of accomplishing our goals.

I would stress here that we are not a commercial organisation, we have got this far on our own steam and will continue to do so. Maybe this link will tell you more about where we are coming form than anything else.

Kieran, if you would like to have a chat then I am all ears.

FWIW, I'm staying at http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-375307-le_meridien_boston-i

The Club Quarters is within a mile and appears to be reasonably priced (and with wifi)

In general, though, using the http://www.kayak.com/hotels feature and then going to "map view" and entering 415 Summer Street, Boston, MA will get you a distance sorted list of good prices on nearby hotels.

Flats

Sharing a flat is almost always cheaper than renting a room at a hotel. I found a place less than a mile from the conference for $40 per person per night. I would go to vrbo.com and see what you can find.
