to facilitate future marketing goals, and to help manage and communicate with folks in the planet, we need to start asking for personal contact info (name and email for sure, phone / address would be great). as we don't have a system for tracking this info, please hand it off to a member of the associations marketing team

I don't know if this is being done. I'd suggest a documentation page with a formal writeup on how to apply for feed inclusion?

Are there any policies that are concrete enough to put to 'paper' for feed inclusion?

Some feeds can have a lot of posts, but poor content, and others may only have a few posts but excellent content; so which do we add?

And I don't know why we would need to collect names/emails. That seems too 'big brother' for me.

oh one of those issues. why bother? we add everyone to the feed they are an untargetable mess. We do not deny anyone Drupal Planet, we never delete anyone...
