I installed the FCKeditor and set the default input format to Full HTML. Everything was working great until I deleted the other input options under Home » Administer » Site configuration>>Input Formats. Why did I delete the other input options? Because I thought the input format selection stuff on the edit view of content was distracting. Removing the other input format options removed the input format section and nicely cleaned up the UI. Unfortunately, the rich text content I put into my text areas now displays along with the html tags when I submit.
I have tried adding back another input format (Filtered HTML) but that didn't make any difference. Currently, I have one input format in my site called Full HTML. It is set as the default and cannot be removed (even if I add another input format). When I click Configure, all the roles are selected and can't be unselected. There are two filters applied: Line Break Converter and URL Filter. I think those were selected by default.
