We have 3VPS of 256MB RAM Guarantee in Servint.com (49$/month)
Our problem is that reaching the Drupal some size (now 5.6 with around 90 modules and 100 tables) the speed fall down, slowness morning and evening+ (30 firefox turns). We have had the same problem with Drupal 4.7 time ago.

The support tell us: .... When I logged into the server you were using about 715.3 MB of RAM out of your available 256MB. Apache was using 504.8 of this RAM. In the below snip form a 'top' you can see that all of these apache processes have been running for over 16 days. I've edited your apache config to release resources faster by setting timeouts lower and setting MaxChildProcesses to 1000 rather Unlimited. I've also tweaked you mysql config to better define resource limits.

Now there are three solutions:
1) Servint.com contract a 4th VPS with 512MB at $89/month
2) 1and1 VPS 512MB at $29.50/month
3) 1and1 SERVER 1GB RAM at $49.50/month

What do you recommend?
thanks in advance
Ferran

It really depends on your traffic. How busy is your site really?

VPS solutions tend to lack performance just from their nature. I would NOT buy another VPS. Instead try the dedicated server out. What are the specs on it?

If you wanted to try out a dedicated server, to see how it compares with your current VPS setup, take a look at Singlehop. You can test it for a month for only $1.

I'm trying 1and1 Managed Server 1MB RAM pity that .... it is in Spain and in castellano. I will try to change to other country, even losing the service of call free.

The actual webhosting said:
The package you are on comes with 256Mb of RAM. Currently you are using 796.6Mb
of RAM. You are always guaranteed your 256 and you can periodically burst over
your RAM limits. However the more you burst the more the hostserver will clamp
down on your burst limits. Most likely this is why your server has become slower
over the past few weeks. The changes I made to clear your resources haven't
worked as your code obviously needs this amount of RAM to run. Your two options
are to recode your applications to be more resource efficient, or to upgrade to a
package which has enough resources to support your sites. Our ultimate package
comes which 768Mb of ram which isn't enough so you will need to upgrade to either
a Deuce or Solo server which has 1Gb of RAM guaranteed. As the hostserver is
camping your RAM I can't be sure that 1Gb of RAM is enough to handle your sites.
I've restarted apache on your server so your sites will respond faster as you
are currently under your RAM limits.

++++++++++++++++
I dont understand that also Drupal, most popular CMS, in the old sites are
running slow now. We also have tried Joomla with similar problems (a bit faster the simple solutions). Furthermore, we dont have lots of visitants, 5 maximum some moments, and data of activity is
used by the expert to define the size of the webhosting solutions.
real I think that there are a problem of size, sure, but the cost of the solution
that you are offering not can be paid by our 10 websites and it is the same cost
of Barcelona with free call and in catalan or three/four times higher that in
Europe webserver.

Steve, HotDrupal.com (http://drupal.org/user/161788

Hey DrupalCat,
Our $69 server has 1GB of RAM allocated to two customers ... plus it runs
no other software -- all your mail is handled by a separate cPanel server,
and MySQL runs on it's own VPS attached to the same server.
If you want to trial an account we could set you up for free to try it
out. You don't get root access, but then again we do all the security
patches et al for you - plus upgrades for MySQL, Apache, PHP, etc.

It is curious your merged solution, but Sounds good aith a nice price and Drupal Branding, let us to do a trial initially for 3 months. Seems that you are referring to Diamond (webshosting):
Monthly Price $69.00
Quarterly Pay YES
RAID Disk Space 20GB
Bandwidth 750000MB
E-Mail Boxes 325

Please tell us next steps.
