I just read this post by agentrickard (http://groups.drupal.org/node/6480#comment-19067):
On the last download stats that I saw, the module was.....
So there are download stats.
I am wonderig if you can consider to give all project maintainers access to download stats, if not stats to all projects, at the very least our own projects?
Probably it will help boost our morale more if we see how many people download the projects we use most our time of :-)

There is a plan and work done to expose this to everyone. You should be able to find the issue in the infrastructure queue with some mock ups. Some initial testing was done. From memory (may be wrong) I believe that implementation is/was waiting on various work on project module to be completed.

Yes Steven, you answered my question. :-)
setting the issue to fixed as my question got answered.
Side note: I often get confused if an issue is supposed to be here at «webmasters» or «infrastructure»
