I have carefully reinstalled 3x

Doesn't surprise me. That code is completely untested as advanced profile doesn't work with nodeprofile, yet. Just disable the nodeprofile_helper module and the error will go away.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't even enabled the module just copied it. I will probably just delete the nodeprofile_helper module in the contrib folder

Hmm... That's strange. I don't know why Drupal would be running it when it's not enabled. You can safely delete the module. I'll be working on nodeprofile support soon and will have a fixed version in the next update more than likely.
