Rewriting my site that previously was runing xoops CMS. Well i don't like that it has no SEO friendly paths: http://www.andres-photo.com/modules/myalbum/photo.php?lid=278, and file name of image http://www.andres-photo.com/uploads/photos/278.jpg. I already worked a lot with engine/teplate of xoops, but now considering drupal. I instaled version 6. with image and pathauto modules.
Well now path to image viewing page looks nice: http://geo2.riki.ru/photographs/gambia/spider-not-man, consist of title.
But the file name is untoched http://geo2.riki.ru/sites/default/files/photographs/IMG_5039.preview.jpg. And finally original file link is ! http://geo2.riki.ru/image/view/2/_original
I analized that if i search on google images by keyword Madrid, they all have 'madrid' in file name. So in this case friendly urls will do half job. People who search for photo on my page will be unable to find it by keyword 'IMG_5039', '_original' or 'preview'.
Going to dig more in code, but i am new in drupal. Is there any ready module/patch? That will make alias for names of upladed images, so google can index them somehow. pathauto generate paths for nodes, users, but not image filenames. Tryed search in google any topic about this without result.

As I understand it (but I can't prove this), the context of a picture is more important than the actual filename. If you have a product on your website, say the 'supercleener3000', make sure that:
- the h1 is 'supercleener3000'
- the alt attribute of the image is 'supercleener3000'
- links to this page have the text 'supercleener3000'
- links to the larger image have the text 'supercleener3000'
but can we alias filenames?
As i said. i serched madrid keyword. From thirst few pages. Word madrid was in every filename. There was some pages there was no word - Madrid, there was some family pictures. But because it had name madrid it appeared in index. So can drupal automate images aliasing? so tags will be like
? I had some files with alt=... They was on page 1 year, then i searched by this exact keyword, google found 0 images. I can rename files by hand before upload then on page, but it is looks like ugly solution to have files sunset-in-malaga-with-a-view-in-a-direction-of-....jpg on disk.

They then use the image labeler system to get accurate descriptions.
