Drupal Is a WONDERFUL project. It is vibrant, dynamic, flexible and generally free of bugs. The contributors trunk has grown at an extraordinary rate. Developers have generously donated considerable valuable time and energy to the project.

As we approach a major new release, it would REALLY be a plus if every piece of Drupal (core, modules and themes) came with a change log in the tarball. This has been an important component of open source for a very long time. The typical "release notes" on a module's project page are uninformative.

It is usually impossible to determine, for example, if a dev release addresses a problem that I might be having with a module or adds a feature that I have been looking for.

Just my 2c
