The only thing to me that this module appears to be missing is to list by content type,

one can create a list by content type with the views.module

Very True,
I know views will easily create a view for a single content type, Not sure if it will create a view that automagically lists all the content types, which would alow the user to then select which one they want to display. I will have to explore this aspect of views
The thought was this module would automatically list all content types, which you could then individually browse possibly then by category
