Description

First of all, awesome module...

Second of all, it would be neat if the Apply For Role module integrated with the Actions API so that you could trigger actions when a user is approved for a role, or a user asks for a role. Send an email, publish a node, etc.

Great feature request, Thanks for the tip.
I never play with actions but is at it is.
i have to take a look how to integrate and will add it in the next version.

suscribing, i just tryed the module and love it, but inmediatly i'm in need for MORE. the first thing i came up with is that email feature rob talked about. actions integration would be a solution for it, but this feature could also be built in the module itselft. actions would be more powerfull though.
the other feature I thought was to add an aditional field in the "aply for role" page: my personal situations suggests that i'd need to have a textarea in which the aplyier could add some comment. this coment could be useful for the administrator to decide weather or not approve the aplication.

Hello ppl,
Thanks for using the module,
I have to say that i cannot work on new features in short term. Too many things on my head right now.

The actions in drupal 6 are different in drupal 5 so i prefer to release the module for v.6 with their actions integration.

If you want to extend the apply form with more fields is easy.
- Just place your fields in apply_for_role_apply_form() function.
- Then in apply_for_role_apply_form_submit() function you can update the database with the new fields

Hi svilen,
I too would like it so that an email is sent out when a user applies for a role. Emails could also be sent out the the user that requested the role telling them if it is approved/denied. I am using Drupal 5. If your module cannot do that, can you point me in the direction of another module that can?

Thanks!

um, do you mean this will unsupported for a while? i'd like to use this on d6 but of course if i report bugs i'd love to know that somebody is patching them ;)

btw, will this work well alongside role control? anybody doing this right now? for example, role control lets a user put himself into another role without approval, and this mod would make it so permission is required for another role...i'd like to use both if possible, not sure how they make their calls though, or if that even matters...

I just released version 6 for AFR module. No new features. Just port to D6

Thanks to Soren Jones who sent me the version.

Since the Triggers and Actions API is available in core of Drupal 6, this seems like a perfect opportunity to stick it in the Drupal 6 branch, and then back-port it to Drupal 5.

subscribing. i'm going to be starting in on this next week, i'd been planning on adding some email integration but actions support is a much better use of my time.

Subscribing. We could really use actions integration on our site.

i'll warn you the actions are pretty limited. i only added support for the core and token_actions's send mail and display message actions. giving this more though i think the best approach in the future would be to have applications be nodes and use workflow to control their progress and handle the triggering of actions.

Apply for role 5 has Drupal-6-compatible actions integration. Please create a new issue for requests outside the scope of the original feature request or add your voice to an existing support or feature request. Thank you!
