Opinions on MediaTemple GS hosting for drupal sites

i apologize if this has been covered elsewhere in here and i'm repeating an old post. if so just point me in the right direction.
I'm currently hosting my site on hostway.com and i'm super unhappy. thinking of switching over to this solution http://www.mediatemple.net/webhosting/gs/ and wanted to see if anybody has some opinions or past experience. so far i seem to be gettting good feedback from some other searches i've done but i thought this would be a good place to ask around as well.

any help would be appreciated.

i'd be curious to hear first

i'd be curious to hear first hand experiences w/ Media Temple, too. i've looked into their services a few times, but have never hosted anything w/ them.

fwiw, i use Pair Networks (shared hosting plans) 99% of the time and have been very happy with them. a couple of issues offhand that i've run into when considering Drupal installations on shared hosts:

* security and file uploads -- take a look at how they have users and groups set up, especially as it will affect file uploads. w/ Pair, i use their implementation of php-cgiwrap to avoid other users on the server being able to view config files, and avoid making any directories world-writable for file uploads.

* mailing lists -- if you're thinking of using the simplenews module, be sure your host will allow it! Pair expressly forbids any mailing list software on shared servers.

[EDIT: oops, cross-posted w/ DrupalValueHosting above. thanks for the link, DrupalValueHosting!]

Can't recommend MediaTemple Grid Service right now

We moved to MediaTemple in May 2007 and have been using the Grid Service with a MySQL container. Performance has been good up until the start of this year. Despite not making significant changes to the site (http://lifetwo.com) except for additional content, we now see a lot of slow page loads for logged-in users (whose pages are generated dynamically, not cached, so they draw on the gs resources more).

In the last few weeks our Google ranks for our most important key words have plummeted (#4 to #53, for instance) because -- as I've found out in the last 24 hours -- the GoogleBot is seeing a lot of Apache 500 errors -- that's an "internal server error." We haven't touched our htaccess or other config files in months, so my suspicion is that the issue is somewhere at MediaTemple.

There have also been multiple planned outages for service and at least one unscheduled outage in the last two or so months.

Until these issues are resolved and they are stable for 90+ days, I can't recommend them.
