I've put this on several sites, dumped databases, started from scratch and I always have an issue with the posts not being private. I've enabled access control and have rebuilt permissions and updated php. I've seen a post where someone references a taxonomy issue and I tried to find the database they referred to but I don't see it. When it comes to coding and databases I'm at all savvy. You'll have to walk me through this. Thank you!

make sure that the audience field on your content items is not set to public? also check your group settings to make sure you have selected sensible defaults

I have had repeated problems with the public/private access issue - and it seems to be related to other modules that I installed. Previously, I was able to uninstall the latest module that I installed and rebuild permissions and I was fine - this latest time not so lucky -
Is there a way to track down what is conflicting as far as permissions and OG ?

No, they aren't public, it all defaults to the group that it's in. I double checked and the audiences are listed correctly it just shows up to everyone.

I am seeing the same behavior.
Public is unchecked. But still even anonymous users can view the posts.

I am also facing similar problem. My post in group are not public but are open to all the registered members even if they are not member of the group.

please confirm that you are not running any og helper modules nor any other node access modules. also confirm that og access control is enabled. also confirm that you tried to rebuild node access permissions at /admin/content/node-settings

I seem to suddenly have the problem that all posts in groups have to be submitted as public (the public checkbox is greyed out but not checked) also all posts are now seen as public.
I have tried disabling other OG related modules and have also tried rebuilding node access permissions at /admin/content/node-settings but the problem persists .
Investigating ....
