I'm thinking of buying a book to help speed up my drupal learning process and I'd like some recommendations of books, or whether i should just stick with the drupal handbook.

The best, or most suited book on drupal I could find so far is Pro Drupal Development

Pro Drupal Development is excellent... it's really showing me how to cleanly hack away at Drupal to make it do what I want. Highly recommend it! :)

I second that :-) Great book.

I don't know about the other books, but Pro Drupal Development is indeed a gem. It's not easy, though. After a handful of introductory pages, Chapter 2 immediately tells you to write a module. Luckily, it also tells you how to do that. It's a very technical book, but that is what we're after.

Thanks for the comments, you guys convinced me, I'll be getting Pro Drupal. Now just got to wait for the 2-3 week delivery to S.A. =(
