Description

Hi, I am trying to convince our law school to use this platform. I am going to build this on my own server and I need some help.
I have MAC OS with XAMPP and I don't yet have an editor because I wanted to check with the team here to see if there is a preferred editor for the MAC OS that works well with Drupal and if there are more video tutorials or something that someone can help me with because of the ones I have seen there are many assumptions and I am a wicked newbie when it comes to CMS.
I have until Monday to convince the rest of our team that this is the better platform. Is there anyone out there now that can help me?

Hi , Of course reading your request, nobody would ignore.
Well I did install Drupal 4.7 on a Mac but as you said right you may have difficolty to deal with
a Text Editor in Mac because when you edit configurations files inside MAC Os System you have to
really watchout that there ther is no supplementary strange code that not belong there.

Please let me know what MAC system you use and is installed on your Machine so I can tell you
some tipps and advises.
The first thing I will tell you is that the MAC All OSX x series have Apache installed and running.
For Mysql exist packcages that come with self-install utilities, the configuration file for MySql is my.ini
i guess because i di not remember exactly yet.
For PhP you have to copy the PhP folder on the root of your system and make some configurations change
in the httpd.conf file so that Apache find the right php.ini configurations.

Ok let me know dettails of your Machine and Systems i will look forward to help you.

Cheers

Awesome! Thank you so much for your rapid response. =:-]

Okay, I have a MacBook w/Leopard.
I installed the XAMPP Control Panel.
I have not downloaded an editor just yet cause I was waiting to see which one I should use based on your suggestions (if any).
I have watched many of the videos and am reading the Building Online w/Drupal AGAIN to see what I have missed.
As a fall back I have a remote location with Speakeasy and they have installed MySQL for me and I have uploaded version 6.0 of Drupal on to the root site there if I can't get it to work on my machine.
Now, I have drupal 6.0 on this machine (the Mac OSX-and am willing to download a different version of drupal if need be).
I just can't seem to get passed where I need to go from here. I don't have an SQL db on here either unless it's prepackaged w/XAMPP (dunnoh) so I am not sure where to go from here. I am VERY excited about pulling this all together tonight though!
Again, thank you so much for your time and attention.

Cheers,

Hmmm, that is really nice of you to offer up. I will check that out as we speak just so I can get my hands around Senor Drupal!
By the way, if it means anything I am an official Indv. Association Member.....
Again, thank you and I look forward to your replies.

Hi , please I reccomend you not to start with Drupal 6 yet because you will really miss a lot of very good modules
that may really help you in developing your Tasks. Use Drupal 5 last release.
You will have about 1000 and more module that at the beginnig will really help you to accomplish your Jobs.

bye

P.S.

If you may want direct help you can register at www.e-kontakt.at/ek/ so we can chat online in the
lounge Admin Chat. here is about 07.00 am and i may support you till 10.00 am then I have a train
to Salzburg.

I so can't find you on that site. I do like your link and your other site is very nice. Not a bad photo neither.
So, I use to know German but that was like 33 years ago when I was a child and I just don't have it in me to understand the test site.
So, any chance I can twist your arm a bit more so you'll share some ideas with me this early morning?
I sure appreciate your attention.
