A couple annoying issues

Description
First, I would like to commend the author of this module. Overall it is very well thought out. I am, however having a couple issues that totally may be on my end... I just can't find out how to fix 'em.
1. When I put up a new product, it also shows up on my main page of the site. I tried un-checking the "promote to front page" but that did not work... even going to a separate machine and clearing the cache.
2. Another problem is that when the products are up, and I am initially viewing them (when I'm logged out as any user), the "add to cart" button is replaced by a series of page numbers. After hitting "refresh" a couple of times, the "add to cart" button finally appears.
