I know something like this has come up before...but I don't see anything that's current on it, or that specifically asked about this portion of Durpal.

My hosting service is running with PHP Safe Mode enabled. Drupal has been running excellently in safe mode, however I have encountered one error with safe mode. When I go to execute cron.php:

warning: Cannot set time limit in safe mode in /home/virtual/site177/fst/var/www/html/cron.php on line 11.

Is there a way to get around this?

Version: 4.2.0 CVS - updated within the last couple of days. :)

I think he meant that he added a new page in the online manual in the FAQ section addressing this. (I went looking for a troubleshooting topic in the forums... nothing there.) The page I found in the online manual is at:

Drupal handbook » Administrator's guide » Troubleshooting FAQ » Installation / Configuration » PHP Safe Mode Issue

It talks about how to fix PEAR references... but the last option on the list is "find a new host," which seems to imply that if you are getting this error and PEAR is not the problem, and your current host won't turn off safe mode, then your only option is to find a new place to host your Drupal site. :/

The posting was from 2003... updates, anyone?
