I work with a non-profit that provides Drupal development (among other things) to other non-profits. We have a client that wants to use CiviCRM's CiviMember as a membership engine for their site. This meant that we needed a way to synchronize contacts that had certain CiviMember Membership Types to Drupal Roles so we could create a membership only section of the site. After searching the CiviCRM forums we found that this functionality didn't exist, so we started planning a module. I took on the job of doing the coding for the project.

So, today I'm glad to announce that we have released our first beta of the module, which can be found here:

I know that this is a feature that has been requested and talked about a lot on the CiviCRM's CiviMember boards (http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,476.0.html) and I hope that people find it useful. I'm also currently planning a port of the module for the CiviCRM 2.0 alpha, but I want to work on a getting the first non-beta release out for CiviCRM 1.9 first. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as my testing capabilities are limited. Once I get enough feedback and feel confident enough in the code, I will release the first non-beta. I'm hoping that will happen before Feb. 13 as that is when our client needs this functionality by.

Hi there!
Just found this module and it looks like just what I'm after.
I've downloaded the -dev version for civiCRM 2.0. How stable is it? Do you know when you might make a stable release of this branch?
I'll report if I find any bugs :)
