Another feature that would be nice to have is the possibility to save somewhere on the database the searches that the users make in order to understand trends on customers needs.

I'm going to pick this task up now.

I'm going to extend it slightly too. There shall be the ability to save the search, flag the search as an e-mail alert and have it delivered to you via e-mail on a daily schedule.
