Installation as drupal module isn't working

Hi there,

I have installed nicEdit in a drupal 5.x as a module and configured the permissions in a working setup site with existing pages. As "douggreen" mentioned, in another post, I haven't inserted the function line in the theme template.inc. Submitted and saved the installation. Logged out and in again. Nevertheless I get in the edit view of every page installed only:

show html | admin configure editor | admin remove editor

What do I do wrong? I am new in the working of drupal with a basic knowledge of html and php.
For the 5.x version do I need to insert the function line and if so in which program and where in the program ?
