I have Flash Node and SWF Tools installed. My goal is to create several videos that demonstrate kalimba techniques, and then to position these videos, inline, within explanatory text. Using the above two modules I have succeeded in uploading an .flv video and, using the very nice swf tools tag, I am able to position the video anywhere I see fit within the greater background explanation.

The snag comes in when I attempt to display a "poster" image for the visitor to see until 'play' in the video control is actually clicked. I add the image path info under Flashvars in the Flash node advanced options and, when I view the Flash node directly, the poster image displays until the 'play' is clicked to start the video.

BUT -- when I then proceed to insert the Flash node into the greater 'explanation' node, inline, via the swf tools tag, the poster image no longer displays. Until the visitor clicks 'play', the video area appears solid black with just the white play arrow in the center.

I will greatly appreciate any guidance as to how I can get the poster image to display as it should when the Flash node appears inline in another node.

If you are using flash node to create your original content then rather than using the swf inline tag you might want to use a flash node macro by enabling the flash node input filter.

If you use that to position your flash node content in another node then the flashvars from the flash node will be used, so you'll still get the thumbnail image.

You can also set the flash node to be "unpublished" so users can't view the flash node on its own, but you can still refer to it via a macro.

I know it's dangerous to draw conclusions without first testing using a macro in as many different settings as I can possibly think of, but so far: the Flash Node macro WORKS !!!! :-) It's a beautiful thing to see that image displayed in the video area prior to clicking play.

In fact, I'm just going to go out on a limb and feel pure happiness.
